Poly Pro- This tubing is the most lightweight. It has a great bounce and is very responsive to movement.
HDPE- This tubing is very durable. It is slightly heavier than poly pro. It has a firm, stable feel to it.
100 PSI PE- This tubing is the most heavy which can be great for beginners and on body hooping.
Sizing: If you are a complete beginner and you want to focus on fundamental waist hooping, you will want to use 7/8" width tubing. It is thicker/heavier tubing and will help with momentum. A good way to measure an estimated diameter for a beginner is to measure from belly button to floor, then subtract an inch or to. I don't usually recommend sizing above a 40". You will find the sweet spot for most beginners is between 36"-40".
If you are somewhat familiar with hula hooping OR you don't want to focus on waist/on body hooping and would like to incorporate off body tricks as well, go with 3/4" tubing. It is a nice in between size that will work well with beginners as well as intermediate hoopers. A good range for diameter sizing is between 34"-37". I don't recommend sizing above a 37" for 3/4" tubing, as the hoop may get a bit wobbly with anything larger.
